About Me

From an early age my loves have always run along old fashioned lives; Victoriana, florals, lace, and visiting historical houses for birthday outings. I also learnt to sew very young, taught by my beloved Mama, a professional seamstress. I spent my childhood and teenage years producing lots of patchwork and hand embroidery, and getting into a love of Jane Austen, and classic literature. Around the age of eighteen I plunged head first into the addictive world of garment sewing, sucked in by the idea of crafting a perfect vintage wardrobe exactly to my expectations. So far, my greatest achievement has been making my Edwardian inspired wedding dress:

I completed my undergrad in medieval history at the University of Sydney, and am now studying Museum and Heritage studies.

I live in Sydney's Inner West with my husband, where he tries to avoid the pins that make their way all around the floor of the apartment.

My style runs 1940's-1950's, but I aim more for vintage inspired than strictly historically accurate. I believe strongly in making do and mend, and love the creative challenge that sewing brings.

I'm also on Instagram @kaitlynssimplyvintage

I look forward to "meeting" you and connecting over fabric, sewing and vintage
